Greater Manchester Police have confiscated two vehicles while carrying out patrols in Bury.

Earlier today, Thursday, a police spokesperson reported officers had seized car and a bike in two separate incidents in the borough.

Officers spotted a suspicious car on Sawyer Street which failed to stop for police.

The vehicle drove off down the side streets before officers found it abandoned and allegedly using false number plates.

The vehicle was seized after officers say it had not been insured. Writing on the GMP Bury North Facebook page, a spokesperson said: “Suspicious vehicle spotted on Sawyer Street, Bury.

"Failed to stop for Police, driving off at speed down the side streets. Officers located the vehicle abandoned, on false plates. Seized, no insurance.”

The vehicle was seized after officers say it had not been insured.

This morning, GMP reported that officers patrolling near Clarence Park had seized a bike at the popular green space on Sunday.

Officers say the bike was causing a nuisance to the public.

The spokesperson said: “Bike seized on Sunday in Clarence Park, vehicle causing a nuisance in a public area.”

    They hassle cyclists as well.

QUOTE: WITNESSES are being asked to come forward after children and elderly people were forced to avoid two dangerous dirt bike riders in West Fife.

The two males were spotted at around 5.10pm on Sunday, May 7, riding recklessly and illegally on the busy coastal path between Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing.

Cyclists were also among those that required to take evasive action.

Police say the men were likely to have been filmed by walkers and caught on CCTV at areas such as Lumsdaine Drive and The Bridges. ENDS

POLICE were called to reports of dirt bike riders on Portland today (Thursday).

Pit bikes, meant for racing on bike tracks, were reportedly being used on public roads around the Castletown area of the isle, Weymouth and Portland Police said.

The force reminded people that the use of pit bikes is not allowed on the public highway or on land without the landowners permission.

It added they can be seized by officers if they are ridden in an 'anti-social manner'.

"PCSO Jason has been on patrol this afternoon in Underhill following reports of pit bikes being used around the Castletown area," police said.

Portland NPT [neighbourhood policing team] would like to remind the community that using pit bikes is not allowed on the public highway or on land without the landowners permission.

"Bikes can be seized by officers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 if they are deemed to be ridden in an anti social manner.

"If you have concerns around anti-social driving, please report them to Dorset Police on our website, and your local NPT will assist."
