• FOIA response from OFCOM re new 2020 licences

    Interesting data here from OFCOM:

    https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0027/209088/amateur-radio-licences.pdf

    3619 licences issued[1] between 1st March and 30th November!

Has there been any time in the history of the hobby where an average of 400 licences a month have been issued?

Turns out the hobby’s not dead on its arse after all!

[1] I’m sure that a bunch of these will be upgrades from FL to IL, or IL to Full, rather than completely new entrants to the hobby, and it’s not clear that lapsed renewals are included or not, but I don’t think such quibbles massively detract from such a healthy figure.

Back when the RAE went ticky box the G6 callsigns were issued to the CBers
who waited for the change in under 2 years 600 a month.
