How can I tell if my FT857D IS A 2006 OR A 2016 model ? ...SER NO starts
with a 6 ....
The 6 might iindicate 2006 but there's no standard for serial
prefixes. Open it up and read the date codes from some of the
components. ICs and larger electrolytics are usually the easiest to
read. The formats vary but will usually consist of a week number and a
year, e.g., "2604" probably means week 26 of 2004. You'll probably
have to apply some guesswork to interpret the most likely combination,
but at least you will then know that the unit couldn't have been built
before that date.
