    My apologies, I meant 30m (10 Mhz) or 20m band (14 Mhz).

    Hi ukram,

Background: I have had my first licence for 4 years and full licence for almost 3 years, but I have never used it because, long story short: my accommodation.

Goal: I want to be able to do some CW activity on the 15 [edit: 30m] or 20 band
(haven't decided yet, the 40m band scares me). I have been practising
with software CW programs but now I need the real thing.

Transceiver-wise, I would be ok with some cheap QRP kit, but the
bottleneck is the antenna. I just don't have room lengthwise, but
landlord would probably be ok with me putting a ground plane on the
roof, if it's not intrusive and the installation comes out of my own
pocket. Besides, I'm surrounded by bridges, so the ground plane scenario might also be the only technical solution to get my signal in the air,
    but I could be wrong.

I have zero experience in installing an aerial of any kind. I am not
going for performance but for price. I need a solution that can last me
1-2 years until I can get a better accommodation somewhere else.

I have no idea where to start from and I am looking for ideas. Apart
from the cost of the antenna, I'd like to know if there is something
that I can install by myself. Landlord might help with tools if it's not
    a big job.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.
