    It relates to this dispute with her ex-manager, who bought up the back catalogue from her previous record contract so she wants to have
    versions under her control that he doesn't make money out of.

    is just insane!

    And yet entirely standard in contracts.
    In practice, Swift still has a lot of control over the songs themselves
    because of her publishing rights, but obviously that's not an option for non-songwriters.
    In this case I don't know if she'd really be that bothered if the rights
    had been sold to somebody she didn't already hate.
