• Even the Observer opposes (some) conversion therapy criminalisation

The Observer view on gender dysphoria: criminalising therapy poses risk
    to children’s welfare https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/oct/22/observer-view-on-gender-dysphoria-criminalising-therapy-poses-risk-tto-childrens-welfare

"NHS England’s shift to a ‘watchful waiting’ brief on trans identity faces being undermined by campaigners seeking criminal ban on
    ‘conversion’ treatment

"There has been a welcome shift in the way NHS England says it will
provide care for children with gender dysphoria. In recent months, it
has moved away from the ideologically driven “affirmative” model that
views gender dysphoria in children purely as a sign of a fixed trans
    identity."

Odd expression, "conversion therapy". Because how else could anyone
describe the attempt to change boys into girls or girls into boys by
procedures which include hormones and even surgery? Yet the expression
here is being used about preventing such practices.

It's a bit better when applied to stopping people from declaring their
same sex attraction, but not much, as there will always be attempts to
deny attractions that are not approved by society.

Tory Chief Whip 'vowed to crush the religious Right' amid rows over the conversion therapy ban, sources claim https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12657461/Tory-Chief-Whip-vowed-crush-religious-Right-amid-rows-conversion-therapy-ban-sources-claim.html

"Mr Hart, who was reported last week to have advised No 10 to push ahead
with the conversion therapy move to avoid a party revolt, is said to
have made the remark about Tory MPs such as Danny Kruger and Miriam
Cates, who are concerned a ban would have 'unintended consequences' by inhibiting teachers from counselling pupils who are struggling with
    their gender."

It looks like the Tories can't implement Tory policies any more. Clearly
the party is in its dying days.
