In the 10 days between your previous "is this thing on" message and
this "I broke it again" message, there have been 361 new messages in 36
new threads
I'll have to try deleting it and starting over.

Most email clients have filtering features and buttons that can do
things like
1) Show only unread messages
2) Show only starred messages
3) Show only messages from people in your address book
4) Show only messages with tags on them
5) Show only messages with attachments etc...
6) keep filters applied while switching folders
