• VMware Fusion 13 Released

    From Alan B@21:1/5 to All on Fri Nov 18 10:25:37 2022
    As with previous versions it has a free Player option but you need to apply
    for a new license key. It runs on both Intel and Silicon Macs. I tried the Silicon preview version a few months back but it wasn’t a patch on
    Parallels and UTM.

    Apparently VirtualBox have a Silicon Mac version under development having previously shown little interest in developing such a product.

    I’n not seeing a free version. I can only find this,<https://store-uk.vmware.com/vmware-fusion-13-player-5710167300.html>, which is £86. Can you see a free one around?

    Thanks,
    Ian

    It’s just a single download and you then have the option of a free Pro
    trial or paste in the free Reader version key which you can apply for. I applied for the key first and then downloaded the installer and applied the
    key on starting installation.

    Sorry that should have read “applied the key when the app first runs after installation.” Anyway I’ve successfully setup a Ubuntu 22.10 VM which seems to be running OK after a few minor configuration issues.

    I don’t know if you have VMware fusion 13 installed on a silicon Mac but I’ve been unable to create a W11 vm. I’ve been getting this pxe over ipv4 boot issue when trying to start the installation. It then locks up
    completely.

    <https://communities.vmware.com/t5/Fusion-22H2-Tech-Preview/start-pxe-over-ipv4-error/m-p/2921519>

    The issue was seen on the preview Fusion build and I’ve tried the various workarounds users have attempted as described in the postings above but
    with no success.

    Incidentally no problem creating a W11 vm on my Intel Mac using a standard W11 iso.
