• Whats a Mac Mini 1.1 worth?

    From Alan@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jan 22 02:14:34 2022
    After the purchase of a MacBook, I no longer need the Mac Mini 1.1 in my
    spare bedroom. 1,1 , 60Gb SSD, 2Gb ram 10.6.8 with disc. complete with
    17" non apple monitor and keyboard.
    What is a reasonable price to ask for it?
    I dont really want to give it away, £50 sounds about right to me, but is
    that too low?
    Thanks.

    Too low I'd say. Check on ebay for similar models.

    I guess you could take a look on sales sites such eBay to get a feel of
    what you might get. Has it really got an SSD
    Internal drive?

    If that means first generation, PowerPC G4, or the next, Core Duo,
    it is worth next to nothing.
    Too old to be really usable, not old enough for vintage value.

    So, whatever you can get for it,

    That's the 2006 Intel version, I assume?

    Sales prices on ebay seem to be about £15 to £45.

    One thing to consider is whether you want to sell the monitor with it or
    not. It's likely to bump the postage costs substantially, and a buyer
    probably already has a monitor they want to use.

    Not so much an issue if selling locally, but I wouldn't expect a 17" LCD to
    add much if any value to the bundle. Someone will buy it for its
    retro/classic appeal, not because it's the best option because they don't already have a computer. Selling the monitor separately might get you say £10-20 for someone who wants a small monitor.

    (If the monitor was an Apple, or something 'vintage', it might be different)

    Old Mini's do have uses, I have a couple here, not quite that old but upgraded ram and ssd's. That upgrades like that are easy is a bonus.
    One is my media server with Plex plus other related stuff, the other runs SecuritySpy for the cameras and Homeassistant in a VM for all the IoT toys.
    At the prices above they are cheaper than a Pi if you ignore the slightly higher running costs.

    No one who isn't just using you for trouble-making aim sees you as anything remotely close to honorable. You have nobody but Chris to blame for that.

    Can you get less dishonest? It was John Gohde who was openly asking how

    I thought showing John Gohde some kindness might help the situation. It

    What I learned is, if I have come across people calling themselves "liberals" while fishing, they were not the usual cretin class that likes to wail about

    Yes, 60gb SSD.
    I did look on ebay, but prices are ridiculously varied, some have finished at £10, others at £45+, for ones which look remarkably similar.
    Here are some of the scripted posts from Jonas Eklundh... the script adds a nonsense or irrelevant insult or accusation after most sentences and adds
    numbers to the text so he can better track his trolling:

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/RZtEyvJr8HI/VcEqOk2qCgAJ>
    or <https://goo.gl/67NLfr>.

    You can see a run of three scripted flood posts from his primary account.

    From: Sandman <m...@sandman.net>
    Message-ID: <sandman-b7df8761d3b6...@individual.net>
    X-Trace: individual.net +MPBYFbnugFd2iPraU5I9ABV/5ZlNHtqj79Ij19mAYCfL5sHI= User-Agent: Sandmania 2.0

    He also has them elsewhere, here are some examples:

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/Xetqyi1T0F0/cvoqp3eqCgAJ>
    OR <https://goo.gl/jy0rsr>.

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/10d0Emx_ABk/eN0r1_epCgAJ>
    OR <https://goo.gl/Rkz0PO>.

    On that one he has a run of two.

    And a longer and clearly scripted, content-free flood post:

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/2WS3xlecnw8/lizfGLOnCgAJ>
    OR <https://goo.gl/t7cTHd>.

    And even more!

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/cYutxNP1hWc/KZikieXECgAJ>
    OR <https://goo.gl/Z6G7Ic>

    <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.os.linux.advocacy/RZtEyvJr8HI/6sJfxaDECgAJ>
    OR <https://goo.gl/mTXlFt>

    Lots more but that is enough to prove the point multiple times over. Sandman
    has been flooding not just with his Google accounts but with his standard account. ALL of those come from the same source I listed above and it is Sandman's standard account.

    Jonas Eklundh: busted.

    The one thing Pothead learned well is to attempt to humiliate F. Russell into back peddling and if that doesn't work, drown him out with flooding
    or completely change the target. Pothead just has a bunch of completely unsubstantiated allegations and he knows it, so his game is to repeat
    his crap over and over and engage 'lurkers' (who are either socks or shills) to 'back' that bullshit to befuddle his audience. If Pothead calls getting his ass kicked hard day in and day out by F. Russell (and completely trashing
    his name and any reason for anyone to trust anything he has to say - until the cows come home) successful 'trolling', then fine... he is a fine troll. I don't personally go along with that meaning, I use another term. I call Pothead a perfect dunce. My uptime is almost fifty-eight weeks and them
    the facts, Jack!

    Dustin Cook: Functionally Illiterate Fraud

    I have been searching a bit from some of those old threads he was previously being called out on his lies. I noticed that many of those he would go
    out of his way to frequently attack had extensive electronics knowledge.
    I didn't find many who were also proficient in the circuitry side of things, or were also trained as an electrician along with various aspects of IT;
    with the diplomas to back it all up, too.

    Of course my timely statement stands true and correct. Is this for real?
    I am working on a system which will show off how weak ChromeOS is.
