Noticed that my Mac was developing a lag, switch to Activity Monitor to
see what was going on. Top RAM usage was "TouchBarServer"! https://pasteboard.co/1sQg1udxtIIg.png

Nearly 8GB of RAM! Must be some kind of record.

Mmm, leaky. Mine's just 80meg, of which 71 is compressed.

Yeah, I'm going to miss it when I need to upgrade. I'm glad I got this
M1 MBP13" though, the last device with it.

    Cheers - Jaimie

Strange how mileage varies - one of reasons I was so pleased with the Air I recently bought, is that it didn't have one.

Well I have one on my M1 MBP but I have to admit I don’t use it that much. Perhaps it’s because I still have a old-ish Intel MBA which doesn’t have one and I’m accustomed to that?

Don't think so. I'm on my second MBP and I don't really use it. For me it's having to move my hands away from the keyboard or mouse.

I'm sure if you devoted the time to setting up "just right" it would be
useful, but I just don't care enough to.

I had it set to be the same as the function keys on a normal keyboard -
because that was all I needed - and got annoyed because it was two taps to use anything. One to wake the bar up, and another to hit the thng I wanted. I'm so much happier with function keys that just do what I expect.

I'm hoping somebody makes an OLED touch panel to replace the numeric keypad
on the 16" Framework modular laptop: https://frame.work/gb/en/blog/introducing-the-framework-laptop-16

I've not had a laptop with a touchbar, but I think one problem was replacing the function key row, so that regressed if you used them. If it augmented
it, as on the Framework, it could be neat for software like CAD where you
can put quick access functions on the touch panel without having to remember the Ctrl-Shift-Alt-... shortcut for them. The speaker grilles on most
15-16" laptops are larger than they need to be, so this is a better use of
    dead space.

(t'other nice thing about the Framework is you can swap in a numeric keypad when you want one. Which I rarely do, but just occasionally...)

I'm also at odds with the TB on my MBP 15", to be honest.
