• Mysql fault: Huh?

From Davey@21:1/5 to All on Fri Sep 24 12:32:59 2021
I subscribe to a couple of forums, and I recently got a response on one:

    "MyBB SQL Error

MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

    SQL Error:
    145 - Table './xxxxxxxxxxxx/mybb_sessions' is marked as
crashed and should be repaired Query:
    DELETE FROM mybb_sessions WHERE ip=X'586131b2'

Please contact the MyBB Group for technical support."

Going to the MyBBB site does not help, it describes lots of different
products, but does not appear to offer any troubleshooting help. i have Searched this fault, and found a description of how to repair a faulted
Mysql database, but my PC does not appear to have Msql installed. This
means that the table referred to is not available. Does this mean that
the Msql database with the fault is on the remote server rather than
on my PC? I have sent an e-mail asking for information, but have
received no reply, which might mean it has a bigger problem.
    Any help welcome.

It's installed on the server hosting the forums, nothing you can do to fix it, other than inform the owner/administrator.

You would know if MySQL was installed locally because you'd have
installed it. Since you apparently didn't do that, its MyBB's problem,
    not yours.

Websites *should* have at least one of the following e-mail addresses set
up: 'help', 'contact', 'webmaster' and 'abuse' so I'd try sending email
to 'help' and/or 'webmaster' first. It that doesn't work, CC all of them.

Beyond that, it looks like you're s.o.l because their web site looks like
a dogs breakfast of twisty little self-referential links, none of which
point to a contact address, so you could:

    - use 'Whois' to find who registered the mybb.com domain name and then
contact them to see if they'll give you the site owner's contact
    details.

    - Or just wait to see how long the site owners take to realise there's a
    problem and fix it.

The b0rked forum is unlikely to be at the mybb domain, that's just the domain of
    the forum software being used.

...which is what I have attempted to do. I'll just keep checking every
    day or so.

    Thanks.

But what domain are you trying to find contact info for?

I say again, I don't think the forum(s) that Davey is trying to access are are at mybb.com

registrar, who may (or not!) be helpful.

Of course, its also possible that the last developer has just left the building, since the website says this has happened in the past.

Wherever they are, they have acknowledged that there is a problem and
    they are addressing it.
