• Phish or Real?

From Davey@21:1/5 to All on Wed Sep 6 11:41:01 2017
We have received a letter from SunLife, addressed to somebody who has
not lived here within living memory, if ever. The address, which is
quite complex, is 100% correct. I opened it, with the idea of possibly informing SunLife that it had the wrong person or address. It is
addressed to a woman who apparently has lost her husband, and includes
a form for filling in bank details etc. for a repayment from AXA. This
sounds awfully like a phishing attempt, but as there is no correct
person named, is it phishing, or just a mix-up at SunLife? Should I call Sunlife and check, and warn them if they cannot identify this claim?

    I will meanwhile do nothing.

Any helpful suggestions or even history welcomed.

    Yes, you should.

There might be a way of reporting on-line at SunLife's website perhaps?

Yes, I had also wondered about that. I'll take a look, and maybe bypass
    any nefarious 'phone attendants.
    I'll report any progress.

    Thanks for feedback.

The 0800 'phone number given on the website was the same as the one on
    the letter. I called:

"We are experiencing unprecedented call volume at the moment. If your
call is urgent, please stay on the line. Otherwise, please call back
    later."

That was the only 'phone response I could get, so I sent an e-mail
    message. So far, no response.
