Sorting out my stuff I found an old Samsung external DVD Drive, own power supply to a small DIN power socket, USB 2 (perhaps even USB1?). I tested
it when I found it and it reads un-cased DVD RAM fine (I have lots of them).

Just found a real use for it. I have one DVD that is a "flipper", remember watching a film, getting settled with a drink and popcorn when a message
came up on screen saying side 1 was complete, please turn the DVD over?

None of my current DVD players would touch it, in fact my Linux box
crashed trying to read it and I had to turn it off then on again! Any way
the external Samsung drive had no problem with it and I now have 2 x iso
files. Have to see if I can stitch them into one mkv....
