I had a Nokia 8000 Streaming Box delivered this afternoon. My Roku box is excellent but will not stream some formats, the Nokia runs Android TV 12
so I was able to install VLC and Kodi on it.
The set up process involved 2 minutes to plug 3 x cables in, 5 minute to
get the remote batteries out of the plastic without slashing an artery, 30 seconds to put them in the remote.
Then the fun starts.
My sign on for Google is stored in a password manager on my desktop which
I access via RDP on the laptop.
Google sends me messages via my account settings on my mobile which goes
off after 30 micro seconds (I think).
The Nokia takes its input from a QUERTY keyboard controlled by the remote.
I need reading glasses for the laptop and mobile.
I need long distance glasses to read the TV screen.
I swear it took half an hour to get the thing running.
The good news is VLC seems happy to play anything including an iso or a DVD. There is a very large mkv file it doesn't like but Kodi plays it with a 5 second sync issue on sound.
I will continue to test it...
