• OT - Overclockers upgrade bundles

From David@21:1/5 to All on Sun Apr 2 20:03:06 2023
OK it was 2016 but I was searching around for the best upgrade bundle
(MoBo, processor, memory) for around £200.

Looking back at that order, I thought I would look at what is currently on offer.

They seem to start around £1,400 and go up from there.

Has the day of the budget gamer PC gone forever?
[I think this used to be one of the Overclockers markets.]

The 2016 bundle is still doing everything I want apart from 4K graphics.

An upgrade might be nice, but I assume that the big money is for gaming capability with the latest games, so processor, graphics card and memory
    all at a premium.

    Cheers

I don't think 'bundles' are really a thing these days. Just use
PCPartpicker to spec compatible parts and buy them separately.

The only time bundles have been relevant is during GPU shortages, where
they forced you to buy a mobo with your GPU as a way to thwart scaplers.

but gaming is all about GPUs, and they're pricey. A Radeon iGPU might be OK for some games.

I'm not a regular builder, probably been a decade already since my last
build. But 1400 seems a bit steep, what is the spec?

I bought a small laptop for portability, i5 16Gb, for 850 that can play
a lot of games I like. Probably not the top graphics games.

Asking because it is on my mind to also build a new gaming rig.

I understood the prices but didn't understand all the words.

Best to look for yourself on their web site.
