• Create iso From Thumbdrive

From Jeff Gaines@21:1/5 to All on Tue Dec 20 15:18:03 2022
I have just had to install Acronis True Image 2018 to make a bootable
thumb drive so I can create/restore images. My two existing Acronis
thumbdrives decided to commit suicide together.

I really want a bootable iso to put on my Ventoy drive, any suggestions as
to how to create a (bootable) iso from a thumb drive? Zillions of hits for
the reverse and even when I find one that looks the right way round it
actually isn't - or I can't understand the instructions. I am looking for
a Rufus in reverse I think.

    Thoughts appreciated.

There are 10 types of people in the world, those who do binary and those
    who don't.

what you need is an ISO creator or an IMG creator.

The Windows store has one or take a look here: https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/best-free-iso-creator.html

download acronis true image 2018 and install onto a CD or DVD. (It MAY
work on a USB stick for the next step)

Download ISO image creator from the Microsoft store or use a Linux version.

Create an ISO from selecting ALL files from said CD or DVD and give it a filename of TrueImage2018

Copy newly created ISO to your Ventoy

Then use newly created CD or DVD as a beer mat! :-)

I have got an 'img' file which Power ISO produced for me. I'll try that tomorrow and see if Ventoy will boot it.

Thank goodness for computers, what would I do without them :-)
