The QNAP TS431 arrived just after lunch. Not as well built as the TS451
but it's in a home environment, you have to leave one of the runners off
the carriers if you fit a 2.5" drive which I have - 2 separate drives >formatted as individual drives. I managed to lose the very small pack of
very small screws so found some in the spares box, will have another look >tomorrow.
I have set up sync jobs on a schedule on the TS451 to run consecutively
from 1 a.m. each day and back up to the TS431. I ran them manually once
the machine was set up and they finished about half an hour ago,.
I bit the bullet on the Z620 and put a small SSD in to hold "Documents, >Downloads" etc. and they just contain links to the QNAP. I also amended
and ran one of my programs using the QNAP to hold the source files and it >compiled fine but I got a message telling me an administrator had
prevented it form running and mentioning something about cloud protection
so I Googled, found it, turned it off.
Onwards and upwards...
