I’d just get an external one like this…

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-Bluray-Reader-Windows-Linxus/dp/B08CTV2C3P/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3OEOFXBHXYE1I&keywords=blu%2Bray%2Bexternal%2Bdrive&qid=1660923840&s=computers&sprefix=Blu%2Bra%2Ccomputers%2C82&sr=1-3&th=1

A lot of high end computer cases don’t cater for 5 1/4 inch internal drives anymore, mine doesn’t.

is the PC drive a reader, or a burner?

It is a burner, didn't think of that difference.

    Many thanks :-)

That is definitely a more flexible solution - as Andy Burns picked up I'd forgotten the burning function which explains the cost difference. I also
need something to read my DVD-RAM backups!!!
