    They still did sacrifices back in Roman times
    and, in order to consolidate political power,
    demanded they all be done at the temple.
    But now that they've discontinued the
    sacrifices there's no motivation to rebuild.

    Yeah, that, plus that pesky Dome of the Rock shrine is in
    the way, and ragheads start flying planes into buildings
    if you even talk about tearing that down.

    Yes, good point. They no doubt figure it
    wouldn't be worth even thinking about.
