    DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado has one of the worst drug problems in the
    country, according to analysts, and the worst piece of the puzzle
    involves law enforcement.

    Financial advice site WalletHub‘s researchers analyzed three aspects of
    the issue – drug use, drug health issues and rehabilitation, and law enforcement. These include 20 separate metrics from federal and
    nonprofit data such as the rates of teen and adult use, overdose rates
    and their recent growth, drug arrest rates and policies, and
    rehabilitation accessibility.

    Colorado had one of the highest drug abuse rates in 2021
    Each metric was given a weighted score among U.S. states and lumped into
    an overall score. Colorado ranks 5th overall – just behind Louisiana and
    ahead of Missouri.

    Among the three broad categories, it isn’t Colorado’s drug use directly
    that makes it score so highly on the list of issues. It ranks 17th for
    drug use and 17th for drug health and rehabilitation.

    It ranks 4th in the U.S. for law enforcement, meaning the fourth highest combined rates of drug arrests, drug arrests on campuses, and the
    presence of employment and maternity-related drug laws.

    There is not a strong regional correlation among the states with the
    highest or lowest overall scores. Hawaii, Utah, Florida, Minnesota and
    Idaho have the lowest overall scores for drug issues, while New Mexico,
    West Virginia, the District of Columbia, Louisiana and Colorado have the highest. Generally, states in the South and lower Midwest tend to have
    higher rates, while upper Midwest states have lower rates.

    I think you have that right. Want to save lives and take something they want away from people try confiscation of firearms and
    long knives. Probably have the same result as the Prohibition of
    Alcohol which enriched criminal entrepreneurs and made the people
    foolish about booze. [Take a look at the Thin Man movies to see a
    reflection of the society it engendered.]

    Back in 1916 the Harrison Narcotics Act was passed by idealists
    and that is why people today are dying from Fentanyl which is part of
    the rule of unintended consequences. If people had been properly
    educated in regard to drugs the situation would only be slightly
    alleviated but instead we have careless use of strong medications.

    In 1937 Harry Anslinger got cannabis outlawed when he estimated
    the number of users as less than half a million. Since it was mainly
    used by out groups, black people. brown people, jazz musicians etc.
    and the mood of the day called for the suppression of these non-white
    mostly, parts of society the bill easily passed and was signed without
    remark by FDR. The result of this attempt at keeping people from the
    stuff they want was the many fold increase in users which is why
    cannabis prohibition laws are being overturned.

    Well if you want to know how things are in San Francisco we have plenty of cannabis dispensaries. I prefer SPARC which has 2 shops in the City
    of San Francisco and you can find those by googling on the name and San Francisco. SPARC has additional stores in the North Bay Area. Myself I
    use nothing but edibles because of pain on smoking and I use THC 5 mg.
    from Sativa for pain in the daytime and 10 THC mg. from Indica to help
    me relax and go to sleep at night.

    Anyway the East Bay, particularly Oakland has its own very widespread shops and some are very large.

    Now because some will say I am viewing the world of Cannabis
    through rose-colored glasses but I keep my eyes open and here is the
    latest as the pharmaceutical industries try to keep control of the

    A new study has found that people who exclusively use marijuana have higher levels of potentially dangerous metals in their blood and urine than those who don’t. The findings suggest that marijuana may be an overlooked source of metal exposure, an
    important consideration given the rise in its use.

    “Because the cannabis plant is a known scavenger of metals, we had hypothesized that individuals who use marijuana will have higher biomarker levels compared to those who do not use,” said Katelyn McGraw, the study’s lead author. “Our results
    therefore indicate marijuana is a source of cadmium and lead exposure.”
