DAILY SABAH, ISTANBUL, 1/30/2016
Terrorist organization PKK employs Serbian mercenary snipers in its terrorist attacks in Turkey's southeast, recent intelligence reports have said, as it was found out that a PKK sniper killed in southeastern Cizre town was a Serbian national.
According to reports, the terrorist organization started using foreign snipers after receiving a blow from the Turkish military, which is waging anti-terror operations to clear the cities and ensure public order in the southeast.
It was reported that snipers are employed by the PKK's correspondents in Europe, and are instructed to kill high-ranking military officials. Moreover, it was claimed that the snipers do not leave their spots and even their food is brought to them.
Three of the eight snipers have reportedly been killed by Turkish security forces so far.
The General Staff has announced that 467 terrorists in Cizre and 138 terrorists in southeastern Sur towns have been killed, adding up to a total of 605.
Serbian snipers have been used in the 1990s against Bosniaks. It is reported that over 250 Bosniaks have been killed by Serbian snipers. The main boulevard in Sarajevo during the war, referred to as the 'Sniper Alley' was lined with snipers' posts, and
was known for being a dangerous place for civilians to pass.
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. It renewed its armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
