Death toll from European heatwave hits more than 1,000:
Firefighters battle wildfires in France as record 117F
temperatures cause 1,027 fatalities in Portugal and Spain

"Global warming" ? MAYbe ... but did you notice the
headlines usually say "Hottest Day SINCE ... " like
20/50/100 years ago. So why was it so hot THEN hmm ?

In any case, it's BAD right now in western Europe.
The UK is up to bat now - heat well over 100F in
many areas due this week. The area around Birmingham,
inland, central, looks to be worst hit.

Most of this has been caused by a weather system
that is bringing unmoderated air up from the
    Sahara.

Of course the people THERE survive such heat, have
for thousands of years, but they're USED to it, to
a point physically adapted - thin physiques abound.
Euros are NOT used to it.
