Stoltenberg calls for ‘ramping up’ production as Ukraine drains
    NATO ammunition stockpiles

NATO must "ramp up production" of ammunition to meet Ukraine's
needs on the battlefield which are currently draining stockpiles,
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said Monday, as fierce fighting
continues near the key city of Bakhmut.

    . . .

This statement is very concerning. Looks like Trump
was pretty much right about our NATO "partners" -
worthless paper tigers in the event the shit really
    hit the fan.

They made JUST enough stuff so they could put on a
nice parade or "field exercise". If Russia had really
moved in they'd have been down to sticks and stones
    in a week.

The Ukraine war is mostly a border war, not THAT much
territory involved. Even with the USA involved this
has, according to the statement, put a giant hurt on
the NATO ammo reserve. The USA has been slackin' too,
Joe puts all the money into racist 'sensitivity
training' instead of basic bullets and bombs. Hate to
say it but even Trump was kinda lax on this count
(though admittedly the congress would have blocked
    any and every pro-military move).

NATO is pretty much just the USA. All the European powers spent half a
century nursing their wounds from WWII. The UK had finally finished
paying back the American warmongers the Lend-Lease war debt in 2006.

Britain to make its final payment on World War II loan from U.S. https://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/28/business/worldbusiness/28iht-nazi.4042453.html

It is not just Europe. The US has been drawing down its own war reserve stockpiles with little apparent concern about replacing those
    reserves in a timely manner.
I doubt the Chinese are all that concerned with how much the US
sends to Ukraine, or spends on using proper pronouns.

Sigh. There is an old saying about "You can get more with a smile
and a gun, than with a smile alone."
Wars occur because one side calculates that they can achieve more
via diplomacy if they include military means as part of the
negotiations. History is also replete with "short victorious wars"
which were neither, or resulted in a rematch later down the road.
Recent example is the Great European War 1914-1945.

" As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its 11th month, US and Ukrainian officials tell
CNN that Russia’s artillery fire is down dramatically from its wartime high, in some
places by as much as 75%.

US and Ukrainian officials don’t yet have a clear or singular explanation. Russia may be
rationing artillery rounds due to low supplies, or it could be part of a broader
reassessment of tactics in the face of successful Ukrainian offenses.

Either way, the striking decline in artillery fire is further evidence of Russia’s
increasingly weak position on the battlefield nearly a year into its invasion, US and
Ukrainian officials told CNN. It also comes as Ukraine is enjoying increased military
support from its western allies, with the US and Germany announcing last week that they
will be providing Ukrainian forces for the first time with armored fighting vehicles, as
well as another Patriot Defense missile battery that will help protect its skies. "

So who will run out of ammo first? Russia or NATO?
