Dystopian future? Billboards in SPACE could beam advertisements
to Earth - but it would require a 'constellation' of 50 small
    satellites and cost $65M

A study determined that it would take a constellation of 50
small satellites and cost $65 million to beam advertisements
    to Earth from space

The satellites would have large reflectors that could bounce
sunlight to Earth and rearrange themselves into different shapes
    to form logos or graphics

    . . .

$65 million is CHEAP. How much does Pepsi or WalMart
or KFC spend on TV/banner/paper ads each year ?

The TECH is clearly there. A panel of retroflectors
that can be repositioned or covered. Pretty low
    tech actually.

Long long back, there was a short story about a company
selling something called "7+ Cola". What IT did was
use low-orbiting sats to basically paint the lunar
surface - dot-matrix printing - with bright dust that
spelled out "7+" large enough to be seen from Earth.

I keep wondering when China will use the exact same
tact to paint its FLAG on the lunar surface. Hey, who
SAYS you can't own the moon ? Care to back that up
yankee running dogs ? What ya gonna do ? :-)
