Read opposing viewpoints. Deconstruct them.
Heck, *Dissect* them.
Test them. If you don't understand something,
ask questions. It won't make you look stupid
unless they already spelled it out. So make
sure they hadn't FIRST, then ask the question.
If the opposing viewpoints stands up to the
scrutiny, providing you manage actual
scrutiny, then congratulations! You just learned
something new. You just stopped being as
dumb as you were yesterday. You'll still be
dumb but not as dumb as you used to be.
Repeat this process everyday.
It might take years, or in your case some decades,
but you won't be as stupid. And you won't look
anywhere near as stupid, trying to understand
things.
BEWARE:
I have discovered that I am often convinced by
a view less by its proponents and more by the
"Arguments" against it.
Meaning, some people are just good at arguing.
Some people are great at story telling. But if
their argument sounds good to you, it sounds
correct, AND the argument of their opponent
is trash, you can stop doubting.
JTEM is your god. And JTEM is here to lift you
out of your sorry, sad (pathetic) state. Through
JTEM you may yet escape the prison of your
stupidity.
JTEM is the key to all locks.
