I haven't tried doing this yet, but I wonder how many people are

It's a good idea because it scales. Most competitors to MTG today fail because they have too few cards. Some of them fail hard because they put a bunch of effort into the rest of the game but overlook variety.

I haven't tried doing this yet, but I wonder how many people are constructing their own meaning out of life by shuffling a deck?

(of a philosophical doctrine or the like) intended to be revealed only to
    the initiates of a group:
    the esoteric doctrines of Pythagoras.

(I know, MTG is quite common now, but it still looks arcane to my

There's five different colors and colorless. Each color has its own personality. It's like growing two rival bansai trees that lash at each other and the pruner. For a long time I just wished someone would build a deck for me because the deckbuilding
process is consuming. Now I have 99 decks online and I can go back to earlier ones as if my wish is granted. Familiarity with the cards also grows from your opponent using them. There's a hump that you can cross where you start to understand the cards
and are not baffled by the overwhelming quantity available. Playing sealed deck or draft helps with this too, where you are given a limited number of cards to use to make a deck. This is a good way to learn the new cards coming onto the scene. Right
now the new set is Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth. I've got a couple Balrogs and a Frodo.
