Way back in 1982 I had a dream about a metal bodied pen light that I owned in real life. The dream penlight malfunctioned, and it emitted a high pitched squeal that got louder and louder and it wouldn't stop until the noise shattered the whole world.

The real life penlight ended up stuck inside the wall when I was using it to see what was in a hole drilled into the inner edge of the door frame, and I pushed it in too far and dropped it in there. My mom remarked that she could see it shine through the
crack of the basement ceiling joist. We moved out of that house in 1994, and the new owners did some extensive remodeling.

I wonder if they ever found that penlight, with it's corroding batteries, and if it's still there in 2022, ready to emit the world destroying noise just like in my dream.
