The so called "global village" (not internet) that politicians
talk about is a farce. For one thing, "village" implies a tiny little
town where everybody knows eachothers name and care about eachother's problems. The world isn't like that. That guy in Germany isn't going
to care about or even know that poor guy in New York who is living
a horrific life. The so called "Global Village" is a monolith, held
together only by trade of goods, and money. The only "culture" it
has is the tacky, plastic pop culture, which is a tool for the
marketers to sell cheap/cheezy items to the sheeple who thinks
by wearing sneakers of a certain brand, or having some stupid gadget
somehow elevates themselves above everyone else. This forms "cliques",
which is the opposite of people who care about eachother. The only resemblence to all this being a "village", is that people all over the
world wind up wearing the same cheezy wares, and being made to think
in the same, moronic ways.
I am sick of the bullshit that the politicans spout, and I really
wish that they would be honest. Instead of calling the world economy
a "global village", let's call it a "Global monolithic mass behavior
and trade control system"
