Well, the number of hospitalizations with omicron seems
to be low so far, so perhaps omicron will prove to be
more infectious but less deadly and will confer immunity
to the more deadly strains, perhaps ending the pandemic.

When you write that it's low, are you referring to worldwide? The US? A particular state?

When you write that it's low, are you referring to worldwide? The US? A particular state?Certainly here in Newfoundland and Labrador, where we
have close to 400 active cases and no hospitalizations.
Also I think from reports out of the UK.
Also from South Africa, though that may be because
it is mainly in a younger population
I’m not sure of worldwide statistics yet.
But it could just be that omcron hasn’t been around very
long. except in South Africa,. and that hospitalizations
will increase soon.
