I am currently on 1250 mg divalproex sodium (for a valproic acid blood
level of 475, where 400 and up is considered therapeutic) and 10 mg
olanzapine nightly. After I passed my thesis proposal defense I was
hoping to reduce that to 1000 mg divalproex sodium and 7.5 mg
olanzapine, and then later to 5 mg olanzapine. But on Tuesday I
met with my psychiatrist and my eldest sister. My eldest sister was
very much against my lowering my medication, and the psychiatrist
said that I am already on relatively low doses. So for now we have
decided to leave the medication as is.

However I still think that I can avoid psychosis by not drinking during
waxing gibbous moon (eight times from 1992 to 1997 I had waxing
gibbous moon mixed/psychotic episodes) and by not believing
perineum click divination (which led to a hospitalization in late June
and early July of 1996 which is what my sister is concerned about).
Also I could keep a supply of extra olanzapine on hand to take if
I have early warning signs of problems, as I did with haloperidol
    years ago.

On my current medication I have put on ten pounds since
mid-December, but hopefully that will come off when I begin
walking more as we get more springlike weather here in
    St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

    Followup-To is set to alt.support.depression .
