regarding their participation in the 'Villawood Study' as all the files associated with the experiment were marked. There was also the
opportunity for them to have their names changed and to enter witness protection if they so desired so they could literally disappear and
forget their crimes, their punishment and imprisonment and their
    association with the Villawood Study.

The five subjects were rankled that Snitterman had lived amongst them as
a spy but thoughts of freedom overcame their anger as they sat in the conference room and Flagg explained to them that the Study was complete
and that they were free to undertake the terms of their release.

Flagg couldn't help starring at Samantha Steele and Wendy Meakins who
had turned up dressed in matching grey skirted business suits for the
solemn occasion. He saw not a vestige of the Airman or the Petty
Officer. The others were dressed in their faded but clean fatigues. The animosity between Brody and Flintock and Benning was palpable but moot
now that they were all moving on with their lives. All three men bore
cuts and bruises from their fight.

"The DC-3 will be leaving at 2000 hours so have your shit packed up and
cleared away. The cleaners will be in tomorrow to return the town back
to how it was before you all moved in and remove any evidence that you
were here. Questions?" Flagg went from face to face and no one had any.

That was until the parade was dismissed.

Sam sat in her chair wondering what the future would hold for her. Under
the terms of her release she could ask for her identity to be changed
and she could disappear into a big city or a small town and live full
time as a woman if she so desired but what about Bill? She hadn't had
time to ask him what he was going to do before he followed Flagg into
    the Company Commander's office.

When Flagg and Snitterman finally left the town hall leaving Sam and
Bill alone she went into the office where so many times Bill had bent
    her over that big desk.

"What did you want with Flagg?" Sam asked.

She lazily circled the binder containing the Villawood Rules &
    Regulations on the wooden desktop.

"I asked him if he could negotiate a deal with Excelsior Mining. As well
as miners they're going to need a sheriff and a nurse practitioner,"
Bill lit up two cigarettes and offered one to Sam.

"What did he say?" Sam's interest was piqued.

"Said it was as good as done," Bill smiled.

"That's if you want that of course. They'd issue you a new identity and
I would trade in my sergeant's stripes for a sheriff's badge," Bill
said, searching Sam's eyes for a response.

"And I would legally be Samantha Steele?" Sam said expectantly.

    Bill nodded.

"Ok," Sam said softly but inside she was shaking and her head was spinning.

She was so nervous that she dropped the Villawood Rules & Regulations
folder on the floor and the pages spilled out.

They were all blank except for the tile page.

Bill gave her mischievous smile and shrugged his shoulders.

He held out his hand and Sam took it and they walked slowly back to
    Sam's house.

"So I am Samantha Steele from now on. I like the sound of that," she
    squeezed Bills' fingers.

"No. I told them to change your identity to Samantha Brody," Bill
    returned the squeeze.

    "Your sister?" Sam was confused.

"No. My wife," Bill pulled them up short and spun Sam around to face him.

"Will you marry me Samantha?" Bill gazed into Sam's emerald green eyes
    which were rimmed with tears.

Villawood Montana, 1959 -- Two Weeks After The Villawood Study Completed

William and Samantha Brody stood on the porch of their little house and
watched the moving vans and U-Hauls trickle into the small town of
Villawood. A family saloon hauling a U-Haul pulled into the driveway of
the house next door and the rear doors flew open and a boy and a girl
hopped out followed by a yellow Labrador who ran in circles on the lawn.
It was hard to say who was more excited, the dog or the kids.

Bill put his arm around Sam's waist. She was wearing her white nurse's
uniform and Bill was wearing a khaki sheriff's uniform with a tin star
    pinned to his chest.

The front door of the saloon opened and a man and woman alighted and
stood looking at their new home for a while and then they turned and saw
that their new neighbours were on the porch waiting to say hello.

"Look mommy he's a sheriff and she's a nurse," the little girl pointed
    at Bill and Sam.

"Don't be rude Penny; stop pointing," the mom admonished her daughter
but she did it with love and tugged playfully on the girl's ponytail.

The man and the woman started walking to towards the Brody's porch,
obviously coming over to say hello.

"I'm so nervous Bill, I think I'm going to faint," Sam whispered.

"You'll be fine Mrs Brody. Just be you," Bill squeezed Sam gently and
    softly kissed her cheek.

    The End

Author's note: This was a story I really enjoyed writing and I hope you
enjoyed it too. Any errors in fact or continuity are entirely my fault.
I wish William and Samantha Brody all the best and a long and happy
life. Please leave me a comment or an observation as reward for my
efforts if it pleases you. Your very own Sweet Transvestite Michele Nylons
