NGO Autonomous Advocacy is deeply concerned by interior minister Avakov's announcement of possible suspending of Ukrainian membership in ICPO in case if Russian policeman Oleksandr Prokopchuk will be elected a President at the General Assembly of
    INTERPOL.

We strongly disagree with discrimination by citizenship and politicization of policing, undermining the fairness of law enforcement and rule of law around the world.

Since no evidence of incompetence or human rights violations of Oleksandr Prokopchuk is revealed, he must be treated as a professional policeman without prejudices for Russian citizenship and can't be personally shamed for Russian aggression in Eastern
Ukraine, especially by the one of the proponents, strategists, and beneficiaries of the hybrid war between Russia and Ukraine.

We call governments of Russia, Ukraine, USA, China, and other Interpol member countries to stop systematic abuses of Interpol and its Red Notice international arrest warrant mechanism for political manipulations and repressions against opponents.

Also, we call China to assure procedural justice and human rights protection in the corruption case against former president Meng Hongwei abducted and forced to resign. We support the statement of Jürgen Stock, Interpol’s secretary-general, urged
China to provide a comprehensive explanation for the detention of Meng Hongwei.
