• Fauci warns Americans could face more lockdowns

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases, warned Americans this week that they could soon
face additional COVID-19 lockdown measures should a new strain of the
virus cause case numbers to increase.

    Cut!

A Johns Hopkins University meta-analysis of several studies in February
found that lockdowns during the first COVID-19 wave in the spring of
2020 only reduced COVID-19 mortality by .2% in the U.S. and Europe.

"While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to
no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and
    social costs...

Why would anyone take the advice of this quack? Fauci was supposed to
be an expert on the virus, and know exactly how it spread and how to
fight it. Remember washing your hands for twenty seconds, and spraying
alcohol solution on your grocery bags?

It turns out Fauci knew about as much as the average person.

    Josh loved to quote Fauci.

I still do because he knows much more than you or I. And while he got
some things wrong, it was based on incomplete data and he corrected
    himself as new data emerged.

Take for instance his statement from this article: "If in fact, we do
see a turnaround and a resurgence, we have to be able to pivot and go
back to any degree of mitigation that is commensurate with what the
situation is." That strikes me as both reasonable and prudent.

    Do you agree, Jeff?

    Of course.

Why would anyone take the advice of this quack? Fauci was
supposed to be an expert on the virus, and know exactly how it
spread and how to fight it. Remember washing your hands for
twenty seconds, and spraying alcohol solution on your grocery
    bags?

It turns out Fauci knew about as much as the average person.

    Josh loved to quote Fauci.

I still do because he knows much more than you or I. And while he
got some things wrong, it was based on incomplete data and he
corrected himself as new data emerged.

Take for instance his statement from this article: "If in fact, we
do see a turnaround and a resurgence, we have to be able to pivot
and go back to any degree of mitigation that is commensurate with
what the situation is." That strikes me as both reasonable and
    prudent.

    Do you agree, Jeff?

    Of course.

It's unbelievable to me that either one of you would agree to
another lockdown, when it has been shown that it does nothing to
prevent the spread of a virus.

We still have supply chain problems from the last lockdown, that
caused companies to shutdown and stop production.

Firstly, no one has called for a lockdown. Secondly, your study's
conclusion is highly controversial. See for example:

    Of course.

It's unbelievable to me that either one of you would agree to another
lockdown, when it has been shown that it does nothing to prevent the
    spread of a virus.

"IF we have a RESURGENCE" should we respond with mitigation
    "COMMENSURATE with the SITUATION"?
How could an intelligent answer be anything but YES?

We still have supply chain problems from the last lockdown, that
caused companies to shutdown and stop production.
Commensurate with the situation! Get it?

If Fauci say we have to lockdown again, will you agree?

That would depend on whether or not I believed that the terms of the
lockdown were commensurate with the situation.

I'll show him a little respect when he admits this country was in

Aside from Trump's despicable behavior in the final weeks of his

    Now how about you?

Will you quit asking me those questions? I have answered them both.

Firstly, no one has called for a lockdown. Secondly, your study's
conclusion is highly controversial. See for example:

The subject of this discussion is: Fauci warns Americans could
    face more lockdowns.

That's the Fox News headline, not what Fauci said.

A Johns Hopkins University meta-analysis of several studies in
February found that lockdowns during the first COVID-19 wave in
the spring of 2020 only reduced COVID-19 mortality by .2% in the
    U.S. and Europe.

That seems to be El Castor's favorite source of information.

If you read my link, you would realize that the working paper (not
yet peer reviewed) is not from John Hopkins. Instead, one of its two
authors is an economics professor at Johns Hopkins.

The real problem seems to be that Johnny has a problem with big words
    like commensurate.

    Here's Webster's definition:
"corresponding in size, extent, amount, or degree : proportionate"

The extent of the response could not be determined or debated until
the severity of the resurgence was determined. If three people in
Boise sneezed that would be one thing. Tens of thousands dropping in
the street coast to coast would constitute a very different response.

You seem to have trouble understanding with any degree of mitigation
needed. That includes a lockdown. One more will destroy this country
and you won't have to worry about the virus any more, you will have
worry about find food to eat.

And you seem to have trouble understanding that word "commensurate".
And by the way, please answer those three questions.
