Public schools in Washington state and Oregon are teaching topics
related to gender identity to children as young as 5.
The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI),
which oversees K-12 education in the state, defines "gender" as "a
social construct based on emotional, behavioral and cultural
characteristics attached to a person’s assigned biological sex." The
OSPI set health education standards for all public schools in 2016,
requiring children in kindergarten and first grade to learn that "there
are many ways to express gender," while children in second and third
grade are taught that "there is a range of gender roles and expression."

Teaching this year after year, and going into more detail each year is nothing but pure brainwashing.
It's liberal idiots trying to force their beliefs on impressionable
children.
How would you like it Josh, if the state required that children were
taught that people who think they are the wrong gender, have mental
problems?
The state should keep out of sex education and leave it to the parents.

This is an old saw that has long since been rejected (e.g., we learned
about VD in 8th grade). Given there is sex education, schools have to
take a stand, one way or the other, on gender identity. They choose
should what the medical profession tells us.

I am certain you would disagree, but from my evil right wing
perspective it is clear that an element in your Party is attempting to
use the education system to indoctrinate children in Left Wing views
of gender identity -- just another step in what is evolving into a
scheme of political indoctrination of our school children. Ridiculous?
Perhaps, but then ...

Yes. The science of gender identity has nothing to do with politics.
