A Rikers Island captain charged with trying to help an inmate
hide a tattoo resigned after a video surfaced showing her
    kissing an inmate.

Capt. Shantay Dash is seen talking to the unidentified inmate
before moving in for what seems to be a kiss, the video shows.

“What the heck?” Dash is heard saying after the kiss.

The video, first reported by PIX11 News, was posted on a
Facebook group created by current and former city Correction
    Department staffers.

The kiss appears to have been captured by a contraband cell
phone inside an unidentified city jail.

Dash — who was with the department for 10 years — resigned from
her $80,000-a-year job on Monday. As a result, the majority of
    her pension has been relinquished.

She was arrested in January for smuggling a tattoo gun into jail
for a female inmate lover, Robin Hamilton, who was going to
change a marking that tied her to a series of robberies, court
    records show.

A judge had ordered Hamilton's ERICKA tattoo be photographed and
used as evidence in her pending trial.

An investigation revealed that Dash had bought the tattoo
removal gun on Amazon, authorities said.

Jail officials took away Dash’s badge and gun and placed her on
modified duty. But she remained on the payroll following a brief
    suspension, as per union rules.

The Department of Correction declined to comment on the video.

“The vast majority of Department of Correction staff perform
their duties with the highest level of integrity and
Commissioner (Joseph) Ponte has zero tolerance for those who
don't,” the department said in a statement.

Dash declined to comment when reached inside her Brooklyn
    apartment Wednesday.

"I ask that you please respect my privacy at this time and do
not come to my door," she said in an email. "My family and
friends should not have to suffer based on what is happening
with me at this time. Please respect that. Thank you."
