Meth will do it every time.
An Orlando nightclub shooting survivor who escaped any injuries
at the worst mass shooting in American history has died, a
report revealed Monday.
The boyfriend of Chris Brodman, 34, posted on Facebook that he
“still can't believe my baby is gone.” Brodman’s friends told
WKMG-TV he died of unknown causes at a birthday party early
Sunday while visiting Tampa.
“It was supposed to be a fun night. They were supposed to go out
there and just, you know have a fun night out there in Tampa,”
said Orlando Torres, another survivor of the massacre that
killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub in June.
“It's unfortunate this had to happen to someone that is just so
sweet and nice and didn't deserve it, like anybody else.”
Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies received a report of a
man down at a Tampa home at 1:17 a.m. Sunday, representatives
for the sheriff’s office said in a statement. The deputies found
the man, later identified as Brodman, lying unconscious in the
backyard of the Garden Lake Circle home.
Paramedics attempted CPR on him but soon pronounced him dead on
the scene, according to the sheriff's office. Preliminary
findings of an autopsy revealed no physical signs of a violence.
Coundy medical examiners will rule on Brodman's cause of death
after receiving results from further forensics and toxicology
tests.
Brodman’s boyfriend posted a photo of the couple in happier
times as his Facebook cover picture. Grieving friends filled the
page with notes of sympathy.
“I still can't believe my baby is gone,” Brodman’s boyfriend
wrote. “I can't sleep I can't breathe i don't know how I'm going
to go on without him.”
Brodman had spoken with the TV station while getting a tattoo in
honor of victims of the June 12 massacre at the gay nightclub.
He said he and his friends went outside to the Pulse’s patio to
smoke cigarettes after last call that night.
“We were out there when the shots started to be fired,” Brodman
said. “I said, ‘Run. Just run, run, run.’ And we all just ran
out of the bar.”
He had posted on Facebook in July that he thought the nightclub
building should be torn down and moved elsewhere on the lot. In
its current place, he proposed a "public park with 49 different
individual type of trees to represent the victims."
Elsewhere, in Fort Pierce, Fla., investigators in the St. Lucie
County Sheriff's Office said a large fire early Monday at the
mosque frequented by Pulse mass killer Omar Mateen was a case of
arson. Deputies were investigating, but no suspects had been
arrested or identified Monday.
