I'll bet Darwin (an obsessive Victorian scientist) might agree.
If this virus is man made in the depths of China, then it's a short
step to designing one to attack, or cripple the human reproductive
system. Perhaps this is what the Chinks wanted but the virus went for
the respiratory system instead.
If probable fact the virus might be engineered for specific vectors -
like mosquitoes in central Africa or South America.
Think of it: no more "global warming", cheaper prices of commodities
for all, plenty of Lebenstraum, and so far less incentive for war!
