: A new book titled “Antikythera Mechanism: The Story Behind
: the Genius of the Greek Computer and Its Demise”

It's not a computer. It's not even as sophisticated as a medieval
    astronomical clock.

Why an astronomical clock from 1410 is MORE SOPHISTICATED
    is because...

#1. It's also a clock. It doesn't just keep track of the positions of
certain astral bodies, it tells the time!

#2. It has a power source.

A computer "Computes." It returns a value, an answer that you
didn't have. A clock does exactly what it is built to do. A
medieval clock maker had to know that the hours were an hour
apart, the it would strike 12 every 12 hours... they had to know
the phases of the moon, how long they take...

    Get t?

A clock, even a "Sophisticated" astronomical clock built in
1410, required the clock maker to know when things were
going to happen, how long they took. The mechanism doesn't
    "Compute" anything.

Oh gosh, too bad the author did not consult our resident expert on all
mattrs, untold numbers of hours would not have been waisted on the
    extensive research done.

What the fuck is wrong with you? I hurt your widdle feely wheelies
and you think this matters to anyone?

    Get over yourself.

It's not a computer. It had no power source. This means it was well
behind the sophistication of an astronomical clock built in the year
1410. Nobody is running around pretending they had computers in
1410, not even you. Yet what they did have was significantly more
    advanced, more significant.

Now change your diaper, take your meds and get over yourself.
