Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Wednesday (local time) took a dig
at President Joe Biden for his failure to take “preventive action”
against illegal immigration in the US. Musk made these remarks in
response to images of 'mass illegal crossing' at the Eagle Pass shared
by reporter Bill Melugin.
“Strange that there is almost no legacy media coverage of this. About
two million people -- from every country on Earth -- are entering
through the US southern border every year. The number is rising rapidly,
yet no preventive action is taken by the current administration,” the X
CEO wrote in a retweet of Melugin’s post.
In 2022, US Customs and Border Protection data revealed that over two
million migrants were encountered by US border authorities. Eagle Pass,
Texas, recently reported a surge of 4,000 migrants from Mexico, leading
to the declaration of a state of emergency.
The city's mayor, Rolando Salinas, said that a separate group of 2,500 individuals had illegally crossed the border earlier this week,
exacerbating the existing situation. Salinas expressed concerns over the migrants' unwillingness to follow instructions and hinted at potential
peace disturbances.
