Does anyone remember the date of the rocket attack at DaNang in 72 that
hit the compound, I was on duty with one other airman and I can not
    remember his name.
    Any information would help.

DANANG, RVN got hit 26 times during the year 1972. If you will be more specific I might have this info. Like what months are you looking for
that year. I left there in July 1972. Worked the BDRT as team leader.

    Wayland,
I wish I could remember it is sort of fuzzy I believe it was around that time not really sure. I was on guard duty at the compound at the time of
the attack, it put a hole in the commanders wall to his office and left shrapnel in his chair.
Previously we had a base alert and we all went to our assigned holes,
one of the sgt's went off and pointed a pistol at one of the airman I stepped in and removed the pistol.

There were 4 personnel KIA with these 26 attacks on DaNang AB

You can see why it was called "Rocket City."
That year the BDRT responded 15 times before I departed for Thailand.
Was honored as a 366th TFW "GUNFIGHTERS OF DANANG" presented with a membership certificate by the Wing commander.
Choose any of the Yr. 1972 attacks they all were serious business. Six
of the South Korean civilian employees that took over the Bomb Damage
Repair Team got killed another rocket hit the crater that they were repairing from a previous hit, and the American civilian (ex Marine) he
got shrapnel near his heart. I was gone only two weeks when this
happened. I had a team of 12 military personnel out there, a close one
    it could have been us?Huh

    Wayland,
Thank you I can really use this information, someone ask what stress we
were under this basically answers the question. Now I just have to sort
out and remember the month and day I came close. I filled and repaired
much of the damage along with my crew and others.
    Thanks again

Wayland is their some place that we can verify the rocket attacks in 72
that you have listed? I remember I game back from TDY to DaNang they
didn't have a place for me in Camp Swampy so they housed me on the Transportation side of the base It
was me and another person, who I can't remember. What I do remember is the hooche we were in had two high 55gal.drums around it for revetments but
the only thing in those drums was air no sand.During my time in that
hooche we had more than one rocket attack. The one that stands out in my
mind is the night of an attack that a rocket landed in back of the
hooche on the other side of a conex box that was back there. The
concussion from the rocket blew both doors open and the way they use to
walk them in we were praying that the next one or how many ever would
not hit the hooche.I still remember the sirens and "This is the 366th Command Post DaNang air base is under attack" usually we had already
taken a couple of rockets before the announcement.
