The Baltimore Sun ran a story earlier this week about immigrants from a
Russian Village, now in the Ukraine, flocking to Baltimore, MD and changing
its history. Howard Schwartz found two old photographs after his mother
died. He wanted to know more about the people in the photograph. His
research resulted finding dozens of immigrants came to Baltimore from Mlynov Russia between 1890 and 1929. The anti-Semitic Czar Alexander III whose campaign of persecution against the Jews spurred the immigration. Those immigrants left their mark on Baltimore, their adopted city. They were physicians, real estate tycoons, businessmen, NASA astronaut and more.
