Need help with my Hosteter family roots. I have the first Hosteter coming to the "colonies" from somewhere in Germany. That would be John Hosteter Senior, born around 1781 in Germany. Married Catherine Sidle on May 12, 1808 in
Stark, Ohio, United States. He was apparently in the war of 1812 in the Virginia Militia. He died in 1866 and was buried in Greene County, Indiana. Any help would be appreciated

From what I've read, there are a variety of spellings from Hostetter, Hostetler, etc.

Note: I found John Hosteter's grandson's autobiography. It is just his memories, but he does say John and Catherine came from Germany

I would like help finding his parents and ancestors back in Germany
