• Frans Hitzner 1836 Germany -> Canada?

    From F Bax@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jul 5 05:11:03 2019
    Francis/Frank Hitzner
    born abt 1936 Germany
    died 1908 Orillia, ON, Canada

On WeRelate.org, we have Francis Hitzner in Ontario, Canada: https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Francis_Heitzner_%281%29

On Geneanet.org, we have Francis Hitzner in Germany: https://gw.geneanet.org/fbax_w?lang=en&pz=franciscus&nz=hitzner&p=franciscus&n=hitzner&oc=1

    Are these the same person?

    * Where was Francis born? Hamburg-on-the-Rhine (from obit) is not a real place. Dencam (from marriage) is not a real place; but perhaps it refers to Landkreis Bad Dürkheim? Weisenheim am Sand is located within Landkreis Bad Dürkheim.
    * When was Francis born? Canada Census returns are not known for the accuracy; earlier census returns do not include birthdate.
    * Mother's maiden name? In German records; her surname is spelled Happersgerger, Habersperger, Haggersberger, Hapersberger, Habersberger - is Aforsperager really so different?

I searched the internet for other prior work on the family in Germany; but found nothing. Prior work may have helped to answer these questions:
    1. Do any records exist in Germany that confirm Francis left for North America? 2. Do any records exist in Germany that indicate Francis either married or died in Germany and I need to find another connection?

    Thanks, Frank

I doubt it, even regarding that the different name might result from a mispelling the possible birthplaces are too different and too far away

    * Where was Francis born? Hamburg-on-the-Rhine (from obit) is not a real place.

The village might be Hambach, which is because of the so called Hambach Festival
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hambach_Festival
regarded as birthplace of German Democracy. In the course of the
festival criminal investigation were started, so that many participants
    left the country

Dencam (from marriage) is not a real place; but perhaps it refers to Landkreis Bad Dürkheim?

Dürckheim, as spoken in the local dialect may be understood as Dercam

Weisenheim am Sand is located within Landkreis Bad Dürkheim.

There is also located a Weisenheim am Berg located in the same district,
    just a coincidence.

    * When was Francis born? Canada Census returns are not known for the accuracy; earlier census returns do not include birthdate.

You have to decide, the documents show to different persons.

    * Mother's maiden name? In German records; her surname is spelled Happersgerger, Habersperger, Haggersberger, Hapersberger, Habersberger - is Aforsperager really so different?

all the names (including Hitzner/Heitzner) do not really sound as
stemming from the Palatinate. When Bavaria took over in 1816ff many
young officials from the mainland took the chance to be promoted there
more easily. The main town of offices of the state was Neustadt an der Weinstraße (modern Name) of which Hambach is a part.

I searched the internet for other prior work on the family in Germany; but found nothing. Prior work may have helped to answer these questions:
    1. Do any records exist in Germany that confirm Francis left for North America?

if he had officially applied for leaving the country there might be a
copy of the passport. Most people however just left.

    2. Do any records exist in Germany that indicate Francis either married or died in Germany and I need to find another connection?

There are marriage and death files, which were at that time kept by the
church (you cite the work of the Saints of the last Days which is mainly microfilming of church records).
