I suggest the following deeds and wills on A2A might be interesting for any possible connection to Rev. John Cotton of Boston, Mass., baptized at St. Alkmunds, Derby, and claimed to be a grandson of a George Cotton (d. 1560s?).

Deeds relating to Cotton family property in Derby, principally a barn orchard and croft...

Bishop's Transcripts for Balsham, co. Cambridge, give the Rev. John Cotton's first marriage:

1613. John Cotton of Boston clk. S. T. B. and Eliz Harcockes of Cambridge spr. md. July 3.

Presumably "Harcockes" is a mistake for "Harrockes" [i.e., her surname was Harrox, Horrox, or Horrocks].

A footnote indicates that there is a surviving marriage license, which calls Elizabeth "of Balsham aet. 26."
