I'm glad to see this group is still around! I'm hoping you can once again assist me in a quest.

I got down a rabbit hole taking all of the misinformation associated with the de la Grange family that is connected to my family on FamilySearch. I know its not a scholarly resource, you don't have to lecture me about that.

But I am wondering if anyone knows why there is a seemingly oft repeated on the Internet lineage on Geofroy that extends the de la Grange family another generation. I have not seen anything that would suggest this to be true, and do regard the work at
Genealogics to show the end of the family as known by existing records (https://www.genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00395612&tree=LEO).

The line is then extended from Geofroy to a father Jean de la Grange d'Arguian and mother Marie Fouilloy, and grandfather Guillaume de la Grange and grandmother Catherine Vogt d'Honolstein. (There there is another parent proposed Jean de la Grange and
Helene de la Riviere, but I prefer to investigate one claim at a time so as to not confuse myself!).

Something to me just rings off as unlike later generations like Geoffroy's, there is little detail about titles and service, just the names and the descriptor "d'Arquian".

Would love to hear if anyone has any thoughts on why this is around and if there could be any truth to it.

If you use FamilySearch Family Tree, the page I am talking about is this one: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LCQK-DHN - my name appears on the page several times, mostly as I was merging together duplicate people in the database.
