Wycombe & Wooten Basset (died 1271)? I don't see a rationale for making
the widow Alice into a wife of Sir Philip.

Dear Peter, if you don't mind me asking, why have you been posting more on English genealogy recently.

Dear Peter, if you don't mind me asking, why have you been posting more on English genealogy recently.I wasn't conscious of an altered pattern, Paulo - I expect it's just haphazard. When I read a post and have something to say in response, I
don't pause over whether the subject is English or not. My interests are mainly outside the British Isles and North America. I don't read through many threads about late-medieval or early-modern people wherever they
lived, and almost never about "gateway" ancestry. However, I'm a
chatter-box with a lot of spare time.
