• Help understanding birth record

I'm completely new to this so apologies if this is a silly question.

I'm looking for information on a relative who I always thought was Irish. I've found the registration of his birth on the Ireland, Civil Registration Births Index, 1864-1958.

The birth country is listed as Ireland but the registration district is listed as Guernsey. If he was born in Guernsey why would the birth country be Ireland? He was born in 1913 if that's relevant.

    Thanks!

    Sounds like a mistranscription

You can search the civil records on this site, which will be a lot more helpful

It could be a transcription error.

It could be the parents are Irish and the baby happened to be born in
Guernsey. Check if the father is in the army and stationed in Guernsey.

Recently, there was a similar query https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=805030.0 concerning an
Alderney Irish Records registration and it seemed to be a military
birth. The discussion in that link gives more details including, in that
case, the birth in GRO Army Birth Indices 1861-1965

A search of Ireland Civil Registration Indexes, 1845-1958 on
familysearch.org for Guernsey births 1910-1915 (without including a
    name) gives 27 hits.
