Hello, I am trying to trace my husbands ancestors but have little to go on. His parents marriage certificate (1943) shows his mother as Mary
Donnelly, and her father as John Donnelly. He vaguely remembers his
grannies maiden name as being Sales. A search of Donnelly marrying
Sales results in just 1 result - a marriage took place in 1906 and
both parties were minors. The 1911 census shows a John and Catherine
Donnelly in Dublin, of the right ages and the occupation fits (news
vendor) as does the age of the oldest son, born 1907. However the
census also names another son, James, as being 1 year old, but birth
records show a James Donnelly (mothers name Sales) as being born in
April 1912 - again with the fathers occupation as a news vendor. So,
I'm confused! Any advice please...
Have you checked (with wild characters) for a birth of an earlier
James and/or a death of the James named in the Census?
