• HELP WITH TRACING HERITAGE

We have hit a wall tracing my husband's Irish heritage. His maternal line is Irish - he is Scottish - we have traced all bar one a Mary Ward who married Joseph Gordon who we think was born in the States after his parents emigrated in the early 1800s.
They had a daughter Mary Gordon born in 1906 in Scotland who went onto marry Thomas Reynolds and had at least one daughter Mary Reynolds in 1952 in Scotland - his mother.

We need to find where Mary Ward was born to then trace if any of the subsequent births were registered in Ireland at all. My husband cannot remember where they orignated from in Ireland and asking is not an option! However his understanding is there is
a connection quite close to Belfast but NOT northern Ireland and Ballyshannon also features.

    Any advice welcomed!
