Hi all
George William Perry was born 1894 Bute SA,
Parents were John James Perry and Mary nee Miller
George appears in WW1, and returns from overseas service in aug 1919. (NAA file)
But then he disappears.
I presume he stayed in South Aus as no electoral roll appearance.
I wonder if anyone could find any hint of what happened to George
Thanks so much
Cheers

I will add him to my file as soon as I get my trees in order. The S.A. indexes are full of them. I thought I had a Fromelles Perry from S.A.,
but I didn't.
Doug.

service number as 1215, and the battalion number has been altered. The record says he was discharged as a Private.
There is a Lance Corporal George William Perry, also with No. 1215. the service numbers seem to be repeated in every unit, but the coincidence
is too great. He served in the 56th AIF Bn, was wounded and
hospitalized at Bath, and was discharged in OZ on 02 Jun 1919. The Red Cross has correspondence with a relative of the L/C, whose address was Balaklava, S.A.

The 56th Bn is given in red on "our" George's enlistment. It fought at Fromelles.
Go for it, girls. You have more know-how than I do.
Doug.
The Red Cross file is at

Next of kin writing was Mrs M.G. Heath (a sister.) I haven't found her.
